The three panels

The bloodwork
Emma trusts.

Every panel Emma recommends is processed in a UKAS-accredited UK lab, reviewed by a GMC-registered doctor, and delivered to your phone in 24 hours. A qualified phlebotomist from the Youth Revisited team comes directly to your home to take the sample — no clinic, no waiting room.

Starting point

Foundation
Blood Test

The essential panel for Emma Paterson Coaching clients new to bloodwork. Covers the core markers Emma watches — testosterone, cortisol, thyroid, iron — in one focused test. The baseline that tells you and Emma exactly what your body needs to respond to training and feel its best.
Testosterone
Your key anabolic hormone — critical for muscle development, energy, mood and recovery in both men and women. If training isn't producing results, this is one of the first places to look.
Cortisol
Your stress and recovery hormone. High cortisol blocks fat loss, increases fatigue and impairs sleep quality — three of the most common reasons people struggle to see results despite consistent training.
Thyroid (TSH, T3, T4)
Controls your metabolic rate and energy levels. Sluggish thyroid is extremely common and often missed — it means slow body composition change, low energy and poor gym performance even when everything else looks right.
Iron & Ferritin
Low ferritin is one of the most common hidden causes of persistent tiredness and poor training quality — particularly in women. Easy to identify, easy to address once you have the data.
Oestradiol
Oestrogen balance affects body composition, mood, recovery and energy in both men and women. Imbalances here can silently undermine progress regardless of how well your training and nutrition are structured.
Magnesium
Essential for sleep quality, muscle function and energy production. Deficiency is extremely common in active people and has a direct, measurable impact on how you feel, recover and perform day to day.
Most comprehensive

Elite
Blood Test

For Emma Paterson Coaching clients who want every possible advantage from their training. Every advanced marker affecting energy, body composition, recovery, cardiovascular health and long-term wellbeing — the complete internal picture.
Everything in Performance
All 53 markers across all Performance panels — hormones, organ function, cardiovascular, thyroid, metabolism and vitamins. The complete baseline in one draw.
Cystatin C (Advanced Kidney)
A more sensitive kidney marker than standard creatinine — detects early stress that routine testing misses. Important for anyone on a high-protein diet or training at significant volume.
Glucose
Immediate blood sugar at the time of testing. Complements HbA1c for a complete glucose picture — relevant for energy management, body composition and understanding how your body handles carbohydrates around training.
ApoA1 & ApoB
Advanced cardiovascular markers more predictive than standard cholesterol — the ones most cardiologists now prioritise. For anyone serious about long-term health alongside fitness performance.
Transferrin Saturation & TIBC
How efficiently your body transports and stores iron — directly affecting energy production, endurance capacity and how you feel during and after training sessions.
Magnesium & Folate
Magnesium for sleep, muscle function and daily energy. Folate for DNA repair, red blood cell production and sustained energy through consistent training blocks. The final layer of a complete picture.

Data Emma can coach from

Your bloodwork gives Emma the internal picture to personalise your programme — training load, nutrition, recovery, supplementation. The difference between a generic plan and one built around your actual body.

Why Emma recommends testing

Training hard
isn't always enough.

Emma coaches people who train — beginners finding their feet and experienced gym-goers who want more from their effort. At every level, the same question comes up: why isn't the work translating into results? More often than not, the answer is internal.

Bloodwork is the missing piece that makes the coaching genuinely personal. It shows what's actually happening with your hormones, your energy systems and your recovery — and gives Emma the data to build a programme around your body, not a template.

01

Hormones affect everything

Testosterone, cortisol, thyroid — the markers that determine your energy, your body composition and how well your body responds to training. Getting these right changes everything else.

02

Deficiencies are more common than you think

Low iron, vitamin D, B12, magnesium — particularly common in women who train regularly and frequently missed without testing. These are often the entire explanation for persistent tiredness and slow progress.

03

The data makes the coaching personal

Retesting every 3–4 months shows Emma exactly how your body is responding to the programme. It turns coaching from generic to genuinely individual — and proves what's working.

Emma Paterson Coaching · Bangor, Northern Ireland · Fitness & Lifestyle Coach

Emma coaches people who are serious about their fitness — whether that's someone picking up a training plan for the first time or a gym regular who's been putting in consistent work and wants to understand why the results aren't matching the effort.

For Emma, the most frustrating thing in coaching is a client doing everything right on paper but not getting the results they deserve. Bloodwork removes the guesswork. It shows exactly what's happening internally — the hormonal and metabolic picture that determines how your body actually responds to training and nutrition.

Youth Revisited's UKAS-accredited testing brings that clinical picture to your front door — a qualified phlebotomist attends your home, takes the sample and sends it to the lab the same day. Results are in your hands within 24 hours.

"Emma just gets it. She listened, adapted the plan to my lifestyle, and the results followed. Honestly wish I'd found her sooner."

Natalie R. · Emma Paterson Coaching Client

"Working with Emma was a turning point for me. No fluff, just real guidance that actually works. Completely worth it."

Josh M. · Emma Paterson Coaching Client
★★★★★
"Had been training for over a year and felt exhausted all the time. Assumed I just needed to push through it. Bloodwork showed ferritin was critically low and vitamin D nearly non-existent. Addressed both and within six weeks I felt like a completely different person in the gym. Wish I'd done it sooner."

Common questions

Everything you
need to know.

Does Emma see my results?
Only if you choose to share them. All results are yours — private, GDPR-compliant, and never passed to any third party without your explicit consent. If you're an Emma Paterson Coaching client and want to share your report with Emma so she can coach from it, that's completely straightforward to do.
Do I have to go to a clinic?
No — that's the point. A qualified Youth Revisited phlebotomist comes directly to your home, anywhere in the UK, at a time you book. They take the blood sample on-site in around 15 minutes. There is no clinic visit involved at any stage.
Do I need to fast before the test?
For most panels, no. If your test includes glucose, HbA1c or a full lipid profile, a 10-hour fast gives the most accurate results. All fasting requirements are confirmed at booking — no surprises on the day.
What if something's flagged in my results?
Every result is reviewed by a GMC-registered doctor before it's released. If anything is clinically significant, you'll be contacted directly with appropriate next steps and referral guidance where needed. Nothing gets missed.
How often should I retest?
Emma recommends retesting every 3–4 months. That gives a clear view of how your body is responding to the programme over time — and shows exactly what's improved. It also keeps the coaching responsive to what your body is actually doing rather than what it should be doing.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. Youth Revisited is a private testing service — you book directly, no GP referral required. Doctor review is built into every test, so clinical oversight is there without the NHS waiting time.
